Thanks to a professorship established by excellence cluster ML4Q, the Institute of Applied Physics at University of Bonn has been able to offer a new professor position. The new IAP professor is Prof. Daqing Wang. Prof. Wang holds an ERC starting grant and has previously worked as a tenure-track professor at University of Kassel.
Prof. Wang starts at IAP on the 1st of October, and arrives with two PhD students to start a new research group, the Nanophysics and Quantum Photonics-group at IAP. The group focuses on interaction between light and matter at the nano-scale and quantum level. The aim of the research is understanding and controlling the interactions between single photons, atoms and molecules, studying among other things how molecule-light-interaction is influenced by for instance the molecule and light chirality (handedness).
More information can be found on the webpage of the Nanophysics and Quantum Photonics-group here.
Welcome to the institute!
